This notice explains what data this site collects, why, and what rights you have over it. It's written to be read, not to be technically correct while telling you nothing.
Who's responsible for your data

What we collect
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the site is used — which pages get read, how people arrive, and roughly where visitors are browsing from. This is aggregated usage data, not a name-and-address file on individual readers.
Email signup. If we add an email signup to this site in future — for a price-drop alert or similar — that section will be updated to say exactly what's collected and why before it goes live. At the time this page was last updated, no email signup was live on this site.
We do not knowingly collect information from children, and this site is not directed at children.
Lawful basis
We rely on consent for non-essential analytics and advertising cookies, obtained through the cookie banner on first visit, in line with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). Where we process data necessary to run the site itself — such as basic server logs needed for security — we rely on legitimate interests. If an email signup goes live, it will rely on your consent, given when you sign up, and you'll be able to withdraw it at any time.
Cookies and consent
This site uses cookies for analytics, and affiliate networks set cookies when you click through to a retailer (see below). Under PECR, non-essential cookies are only set with your consent, which is why you're asked to make a choice on your first visit. You can change your mind at any time by clearing cookies in your browser and revisiting the site, which will show the banner again.
Third parties
- Google Analytics (GA4). Processes usage data on our behalf to produce the aggregated statistics described above.
- Affiliate networks. When you click a link to a retailer — for example through Amazon UK Associates or an Awin merchant — that retailer or network may set a cookie to record that the click came from this site, so we can be credited with the referral if you buy something. - Cloudflare. This site is hosted on Cloudflare's infrastructure, which processes technical data (such as IP address) as part of delivering the site to you and protecting it from abuse.
Data retention
Analytics data is retained in line with Google Analytics' standard retention settings and is not kept indefinitely. We don't hold a database of personal customer records — purchases happen on the retailer's site, not ours. If an email signup goes live, we'll keep your address only for as long as you stay subscribed, plus a short period afterwards to process any unsubscribe.
Your rights under UK GDPR
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:
